Five streams of coloured light, carrying learning content, practical work, conversation, screens and analytics, flow into a glass prism. Inside it a learner wears a VR headset, and a single beam of white light leaves the other side, spreading into a field of data.

The Assessment
Convergence Model™

Stuck in Sequence

Traditional learning and assessment are often separated. Learning happens first, assessment follows, evidence is collected and reviewed, and the resulting data sits across different stages of the process.

A learner in a VR headset stands between two worlds: on the left a grey, crumbling past of paper and clocks; on the right a bright, connected future.

It is how learning has been delivered for decades, and it was designed for a very different world. Technology, workplaces and the way people communicate have all moved forward, yet the way learning is delivered and assessed has largely stayed where it was.

A Continuous Loop of Learning

Looping’s proprietary Assessment Convergence Model™ (ACM) brings these elements together. Learning content, knowledge assessment, practical application, evidence capture and analytics operate as part of the same continuous process, allowing learning to be assessed as it happens and evidence to be captured at the point it is demonstrated.

Nothing happens in a fixed order. Learners move between content, knowledge questions and practical tasks as the scenario unfolds, and a wrong answer is never the end: they try again, and go around again. It’s a continuous loop of learning. You don’t break it until you make it.

Engage with Learning Content

Learners explore the environment and talk with the people in it using natural speech. The learning content is delivered in context, by the characters and situations around them, at the moment it is needed. Each assessable response is evaluated against the criteria it demonstrates.

Practical Tasks

Learners carry out tasks that are aligned and mapped to the learning criteria, curriculum and outcomes. What they do is observed against the same requirements the ILM was built from.

Real-Time Evidence Capture

Speech, actions and decisions are logged and recorded as they happen and mapped against the criteria the learner demonstrates, creating a direct connection between what is required, what is assessed and the evidence produced. Each session records the virtual environment and the learner's voice, never their physical appearance.

Every piece of evidence carries a timestamp into the session recording. When it is time to validate, educators go directly to the moment a skill was demonstrated, see exactly what was assessed, and confirm or override the outcome. Validation is faster and more consistent, and every decision can be traced back to its source.

Multi-Level Analytics

Every interaction becomes data, delivering insight at five levels: learner, cohort, program, institution and research.

For each learner, Looping charts competency across every assessment criterion and skill area, pinpoints where the most attempts were needed, and recommends where an educator’s support will have the most impact. Followed across ILMs, it reveals development patterns and learning trajectories over time.

At scale, patterns can be compared across cohorts, demographics, institutions and regions for benchmarking, identifying which learning sequences and frameworks are most effective and enabling data-driven curriculum design.

Converged Assessment Portfolio

When the learner completes the ILM, across as many sessions as it takes, Looping automatically generates their Converged Assessment Portfolio (CAP).

Learning content, knowledge responses, portfolio work and observable practical tasks arrive as one complete record, alongside Looping’s recommended outcome, a full performance report, the learner’s analytics and a mapping matrix showing where every requirement was met. There is nothing to chase, collate or cross-reference.

The educator reviews, validates and signs off, and the final decision always remains theirs. The CAP is delivered into the Looping app, and can be delivered to your LMS.

It Starts with the Map

This convergence begins with Looping’s proprietary Mapping Framework & Scenario Generator, which translates learning and assessment requirements into the structure from which each ILM is created.

How ILMs Are Created

Mapping Framework & Scenario Generator

The Source Material

Every ILM begins with the requirements it needs to meet. These may come from a curriculum, unit of competency, professional standard, organisational framework or a client’s own learning and assessment requirements.

The Mapping Framework

Looping’s Mapping Framework & Scenario Generator analyses those requirements in their entirety, identifying the learning outcomes and knowledge to be addressed, the practical skills to be demonstrated, and the assessment criteria and evidence requirements that must be met. Learner level, delivery context and other relevant parameters are incorporated so the resulting scenario is appropriate to both the subject matter and the learner.

The Scenario Generator

From this mapping, the Scenario Generator transforms the requirements into an immersive scenario, weaving learning and assessment throughout a connected storyline.

Situations unfold with purpose, decisions are made in context, and each interaction creates a natural reason for what happens next. Knowledge is introduced when it becomes relevant, practical skills are applied within realistic situations, and assessment occurs through the learner’s participation in the scenario rather than as a separate activity.

The Result

Looping’s proprietary Mapping Framework & Scenario Generator produces a fully aligned, mapped and documented Immersive Learning Module, in considerably less time than conventional learning and assessment development.

Built by AI. Verified by People.

At the core of Looping’s Mapping Framework & Scenario Generator is a proprietary AI model, purpose-trained to interpret complex learning and assessment requirements, understand the relationships between them, and translate them into a fully mapped scenario.

Generation is only one part of the process. The scenario is progressively reviewed, refined and validated against the original source requirements, with human review providing an additional layer of quality assurance before the ILM is finalised.

Mapped in Full. Supplied as Standard.

Every ILM is supplied with a complete mapping matrix, providing a detailed account of how the finished learning and assessment resource aligns with the requirements it was built from.

The matrix traces each requirement through the ILM, showing where the relevant learning content is delivered, how and where it is assessed, and the evidence generated through the learner’s participation. It forms part of the documentation supplied with the ILM, giving organisations a clear basis for their own review, validation and quality assurance processes.

Full Detail. Quick Reference.

Each learner’s CAP includes a high-level mapping overview designed for assessment validation. It provides a condensed view of the full mapping matrix, showing the requirements assessed and where they were demonstrated within the learner’s evidence.

This gives assessors a quick reference point when validating outcomes, without needing to cross-reference the full mapping documentation for every assessment decision.

Don’t take our word for it.

Take a look for yourself.

Then we build the world.

Once the scenario is defined, we create the virtual environment in which it takes place. Each environment begins with professionally developed 3D assets and is adapted specifically for the ILM, from the layout of the space to the equipment, machinery and tools it requires. Where something more specific is needed, custom assets are created and integrated.

This is one of our construction sites coming together. The same environment can then support many different ILMs, each adapted to its own learning content, scenario and activities.
